Our Distinctives
Everyone is welcome at our table.
Our unity is in Christ and so we affirm the ancient Creeds, but otherwise welcome theological diversity.
We take the Bible seriously and teach people how to read Scripture in a Christ-centred way that promotes human flourishing.
We promote spiritual practices to help everyone grow closer to God.

Our vision is to be a church where people can belong, encounter God, grow in faith and make a difference.
We want River to be a community that is open, welcoming and rooted in Jesus — a place where people from different backgrounds and experiences can find genuine belonging without feeling they need to fit a particular mould.
We want to help people grow in a faith that is thoughtful, honest and life-giving. That means creating space for questions, learning to read the Bible through the person of Jesus, developing spiritual practices that help us become more aware of God, and encouraging one another to live out our faith in everyday life.
We also believe church should look beyond itself. Our vision is to be a generous, outward-facing community that serves Marlow and the wider world, stands alongside people who are often overlooked or excluded, and contributes to the flourishing of the communities around us.
At the heart of it all is a simple hope: that everyone who comes to River will know there is a place for them at the table, and an invitation to become more fully who God created them to be.
